Aikidō for Focus, Confidence, and Respect
We’re excited to announce that Calgary Rakushinkan is now offering a dedicated Kids’ Aikidō class!
This new program introduces children to the foundations of traditional Japanese martial arts — balance, posture, awareness, and respect — in a fun and structured way.
Children will learn how to move safely, fall correctly, and cooperate with their partners while developing focus, coordination, and self-confidence.
Aikidō emphasizes non-competition and mutual growth, making it ideal for building character both on and off the mats.
What Makes Our Kids Program Unique
At Rakushinkan, children aren’t just learning techniques — they’re learning how to learn.
Our approach blends the discipline of budō with an age-appropriate sense of play and discovery.
Every class includes:
Warm-ups that build posture and agility
Ukemi (breakfalls) to learn safety in practice
Etiquette and mindfulness drawn from traditional Japanese arts
Kata (basic forms) to develop bodies and skills
The result: kids who move with confidence, think calmly under pressure, and show respect in all areas of life.

A Word from Sensei:
“Our goal isn’t just to teach self-defense — it’s to help kids build the calm confidence that comes from true budō. Through Aikidō, they learn balance, respect, and responsibility — qualities that last a lifetime.”
